Are you a non-profit looking for donor management software?
Taken from their website, "DonorSnap is a 100% online software system designed and built for just one purpose: to
provide nonprofits with complete, cost-effective solution for membership management and donor management that's also easy to use." (www.donorsnap.com)
Coordinating membership & development through a local non-profit, I was a DonorSnap user for more than a year, before becoming their primary software trainer. Now, I personally have the joy and fun of training other non-profits in using DonorSnap for their donor management needs.
So, what am I doing these days? I'm training! Hey, another reason to look into DonorSnap! Not sure what that means? Check out their website for more information about the software, or contact me to find out more information about what I'm doing.

Joanna & TechNiche are no longer teaching classes through Parks & Recreation in Medford.
Boo-hoo!
We have had an amazing experience these last three years through Parks & Recreation. I have met so many wonderful people and connections, and hopefully you have learned a little bit along the way. But unfortunately, my work with other organizations has become SO full-time, I have to leave my community education for a bit.
I am always available for your support calls. I am always here for your emails. If you have a friend who needs some computer education, please forward my number to them. My hours are more limited, but I still have hours available to come to your office or business and teach a class.
I wish you all the best and hope to remain in touch. Until we meet again, ~Joanna

Tonight was my first Mail Merges & Labels class through Parks & Recreation. This has been a class requested by many people in the past, whether we're in an MS Word class or an Excel class, the confusion that is the world of Mail Merges always comes up. So, I offered the class, and three people signed up :-( Clearly this is my fault in my marketing strategy to showcase this class to the bigger picture of business people.
But what a blast! How fun to learn how to Mail Merge your Christmas list! Mail Merge does NOT just apply to the working crowd! It 100% applies to the grandmother at home looking to mail out Christmas list, or the mother of a young children looking to create a Christmas letter. Any time you want to mail to more than your hand wants to hand-write, you want to use Mail Merge!
So, notes to you and myself.... I will teach any class you request! And... please come! As you all know, I love to learn as well, and tonight my three students helped me learn a new use for this great tool with MS Word and Excel.
Keep 'em coming, guys! And as far as Mail Merges go, if you or your business want me to come in to your office and teach a specialized class on maintaining your Excel mailing list, please let me know! I have a competitive, sliding scale of costs for personal in-person classes -- or we could even do a Webex webinar if you're out of the area.

Tonight started the Fall regimen of classes with Parks and Recreation. YAY! Thank you to all that came out tonight with our first Computer Basics class. I enjoy these larger classes: lots of questions, great tangents, but still, hopefully, we made it through the itinerary.
Notes: Please remember that I can create any classes you're interested in! I will come to your home, to your office, or create new and/or more advanced classes through Parks & Rec (I simply need 4 people minimum to add a class). This Fall Schedule is considerably less than I've taught in the past and am already seeing the need to add more. So please ask!
Tell your friends... and see you Wednesday!

The Fall Guide of the Parks & Recreation Community Connection will be going out to all Medford residents at the end of August. But check out my calendar now! Changes and New classes: I am teaching 4 Laptop-only classes this Fall. Only four, so sign up early! This is the best opportunity to get two hours with me and just a few others (as close to one-on-one) for only $15 (for Medford residents). Each class will have a designation: Customizing, the Internet/Email, Facebook. Mail-Merges: always a question in my Word and Excel classes, "how do you mail merge?" This two-hour class will cover creating a spreadsheet, using that spreadsheet to mail merge into letters and labels. We will also cover regular labels and envelopes. I am not teaching Genealogy or Advanced Picasa, only because of limited enrollment in previous classes. If you disagree or would like me to add these classes, send me an email! I am happy to add these classes (or any) back into my schedule. Again, check out my calendar for the full schedule of classes and I will post here in text form soon. Happy learning! |

Summer is not the time when most want to be studying computer basics. I get it! I've got things to do too! :-) Which is why this summer I teach only one level of Computer Basics I and II.
Tonight completed our first Computer Basics I class through Parks and Recreation - What Fun! Thank you to those that came to the Santo Center in Medford, even though it was beautiful and sunny outside, and a bit under construction, to become more familiar with this technology thing.
As always in the Computer Basics I, we covered an introductory lesson into the hardware of the computer, and the layout of the physical machine in front of you - the desktop, icons, externals (those elements running in the bottom right-hand corner of your desktop), programs, and folders. I hope the lessons taught you not to be scared of your Start button; that you can click on and explore your computer. (Just be mindful of the Control Panel.)
Tonight we covered the internet, finding a "Wi-Fi" connection on your laptop (and thank you again to those without laptops to allow us a few moments to get connected), Email and a few Google-ing tips. The Internet IS your playground. Use it thoughtfully, and you will never have dinner on time again!
Remember, Computer Basics II starts July 11th. I hope to see you there.

If you are not aware, I am in graduate school. Currently my assignment is to design an e-learning tutorial. This is Right Up My Alley folks! Yay! So, in an effort to better my site, my support of you, and my educational experience, I've uploaded my first tutorial to this new website. Click here for that tutorial! |

New Classes for the Fall!
This past Winter-Spring semester at Parks & Recreation has Been a Blast! We've had some technical difficulties, tried out some new classes. It was quite exciting! But... I'm going to mix it up again, come Fall.
Here are some of my thoughts:
- MS Word 2 (still a beginner class, but the Second level of beginner)
- Mail merges, labels and envelopes
- I want longer classes... shorter, but longer. TWO day classes for Excel; but each class would only be an hour and a half. Space things out a bit.
- GOOGLE! Gmail - Google Calendar - Google Sites
- Facebook!
- And if you didn't have a chance to take this class this semester, Picasa II - Picasa on the Web
I want to make sure that we have everything covered from small business to job-seekers, to just You sitting at home interested in learning how to make this Big Box Work! What else are you missing from your Computer Literacy? Think it over. We have a few months before I create the Fall schedule. Send me an email and let me know what class you'd like to take!

TechNiche, LLC takes on a new look! I'm ever expanding, to try to find the best web resources available to those out there looking for computer help. Some times this means trying a few options out. Google Sites is a FREE website builder through your Google account.
Of course I can build websites! But there are times when it's just SO easy to create something within a template with gadgets and widgets and there it is. Plus, this way, I can have employees working on the website without having true html knowledge. And tha'ts a definite plus.
